But have you heard of prebiotics? These are the fuels that help beneficial bacteria to proliferate.

Micro organisms such as Bifid bacteria and Lactobacilli play a crucial part in our digestion by living in our gut and fermenting the food we eat.Researchers are now realizing that we can improve the bacteria’s effectiveness by feeding them much like an athlete chooses specific foods to improve performance.

Prebiotics are found naturally in many foods, including whole grains, onions, bananas, garlic, honey, leeks, artichokes and beans. They are also available in tablet form as a dietary supplement.

To get the most benefit, nutrition scientist Anna Denny from the British Nutrition Foundation suggests eating the above sources of prebiotics either before or with probiotics, such as live yogurt with honey and a banana.

Allergy is a state of persistently enhancing chain of steps or a series of hypersensitivity crises. We come to notice allergy only after it has been recognized. Hence understanding of its fundamentals is essential for its prevention and management. It may knock anyone, anytime and any organ of body.

Some strange proteins, having a totally different shape, structure and properties than our body proteins, called “Allergens” are responsible for initiation, instigation and dissemination of various endogenic and exogenic reactions of the body. The exaggerated manifestation of such reactions in the body which creates unexpected crises and deep apprehension. It keeps and repeats with embellished reaction of body Autonomic N.S. A sum up of all such conditions is called “Allergy”. The older it grows the higher it irritates, the more medication the more complications. Anti allergy medicine has become so important and popular that they are being used in flu to fever and even in certain cancers.

To keep the human body functional, operational and energetic, many body systems have been created for example respiratory system, digestive system and circulatory system. All these systems are functionally co-related through a Central Nervous System. A network of vast spreading nerves with their end organs, is present in all parts of the body. Functionally these receptors are grouped into many segments.

Allergy may develop even by looking at something. All these segments are connected to each other through various brain centers just like the telephone network in a city. Sensations of heat, cold, hunger, thirst, happiness and sorrow, internal and external environmental changes are generated by specific segments of receptors. The nasal passage which keep mostly relatively dry, so the various agents, like dust, pollen, bacteria, virus etc. pass across the nasal track and pass away across our sensory zone without producing any effects just like our food which produces a good taste in our mouth but no taste beyond the throat. On the other hand if these membranes become over wet, almost all the particles like dust, pollen etc. will stick to the surface of the nasal mucous m. membrane. This new change physically alters the surface of the membrane. Under these conditions even a very light air current can produce very strong swinging movements of these particles embedded on the m.membrane, producing a bout of acute hypersensitivity crises, called local allergic reaction.

Importance of air life probably needs no introduction. Without oxygen we cannot survive. Air is not a fixed structure. It changes from time to time. Urbanization has created pollution. A rapid increase of which is becoming dangerous to health and life. The department of “Environmental protection” is working on it. Air is the mixture of many gases, moisture and particles. A positive electric charge is present around each particle. This charge keep changing.

Similarly a fast moving traffic can bring a similar change in air. These similarly charged particles repel and suspend each other. These particles have an electrical activity which if falls can blaze a house. If it gradually and continuously enters our body systems it will raise the electrical level of our body and can cause a distortion in the function of an enzyme system which in turn produces “allergens” from our metabolism.

Proteins, fats, carbohydrates, salts, vitamins and water each having a specific metabolic pathway. For growth and repair of our body food is the basic component of our body structure. The importance of water is known to everyone. Although water is used for treatment of many diseases but its importance in treatment of allergies is many folds. Most anti allergy medicines cause dryness in various body systems. Water reduces the amount and pressure of various secretions. This combines effect of all this is such that patient starts feeling better.

As all medicines are some sort of chemicals. They are most commonly used. certain medicine especially anti allergy are used for decades together. These medicines have no role in cure of such problems.

Height depends a lot on heredity. If both the parents are short-heighted, then there is 100% chance that their children will be short-heighted too , even if one of the parents is short then still there are some chances for the children to have a short height but not necessarily. Then it depends a lot on the diet and physical activity. Whatever is the reason, one should not lose hope.

Exercise daily or engage in some kind of physical activity like jogging, playing cricket, football, throw ball etc. whatever you like, hanging himself from any support etc. Do stretching exercises. Indulge in hyperactivities such as fast cycling and swimming to tone up the muscles. This will facilitate raising your height.

Hanging
Upside down hanging works wonders to lengthen not only your back, but also your legs. Manage to get a good position and strap your legs good enough to hang vertically,. . Don’t hang longer than 20 minutes at a time as that may damage your back.

Swim More Often
The free motion of swimming is very light on your body and greatly releases stress, which can prevent your body from growing. Try to swim as much as possible, 3 times a week is optimal.

Diet

Keep your diet balanced with lots of milk, cheese, fish, chicken, vegetables especially green leafy ones, fresh fruits, nuts, cereals and pulses (daals) etc.

Eat saagoodaana kheer in breakfast.

Drink 1 tsp. of a syrup containing lysine (Lysovit) twice a day.

Drink warm milk with a pinch of turmeric at bedtime.

Eat diet rich in vitamins, calcium, fibers and proteins. Get your diet plan framed by a qualified dietician or nutritionist.

Half kg pumpkin (kaddoo) or laukee boiled n mashed. Add 2 tsp. honey and a piece of misree. Eat in breakfast daily.

Eat saagoodaana porridge with a few drops of kewra and a piece of chaandi ka warq in breakfast daily.

Don’t believe those gym rumors. Here’s the truth about how to get fitter, faster:

No Pain No Gain

This is tough one, you need to experience some sort of muscle soreness to see results, but you don’t want to go overboard and cause an injury. Delays onset muscle soreness occurs when nerve endings get inflamed after you slightly tear your muscle tissues when exercising. As your muscles repair themselves, they get stronger and bigger, so you can work them all over again. So yes, you do need some muscle soreness to see results, but not acute pain -and rest and recovery is important.

I Go To The Gym So I Can Eat What I Like, Right??

Wrong…..80% of your results come from nutrition. If you are in the gym for an hour a day, you still have plenty of time to eat badly and your workout is not going to make up the difference. Exercising does help- but it is not going to cancel out poor eating habits.

The More Exercise I Do The Better

If you think making the gym your second home is a great way to get results, think again. Too much training not only result in over-use injuries but also stimulates the stress hormone cortisol, which has been shown to increase fat around the stomach. Ideally, you need one to two days to complete rest a week and to keep your workouts to no more than 60 minutes.

If I Do Hundreds Of Crunches I Will Lose My Muffin Top

There is no such thing as spot reducing fat. You can do as many crunches as you like, but if you have a layer of fat over the muscles, they wont show. You need to lose weight by eating well (lots of vegetables and good, lean protein, cut out sugar and white flour), and bear in mind the first place you gain fat is the last place you will lose it. Cardiovascular exercise will also help.

Exercising Long And Slow Burns More Fat

It is true your body uses more fat for energy while exercising at a lower intensity, but a more intense workout will get your heart rate up higher, which burns more calories during and after your workout.

Studies have shown interval training can increase your fitness by up to twice as much as traditional, long, slow distance work and is far more efficient for fat loss.

I Should Always Do Cardio First

No, you should do it last. If you do cardio first, your body sees it as a warm up and you will start by using glycogen stores for fuel rather than burning fat. You need that glycogen for the short, sharp effort for lifting weights. Doing your weights routine first depletes your glycogen(store energy in a muscles) stores, so when you hit the treadmill your body will be in fat burning mode straight away.

Every year more than 5 million Britons consult complementary practitioners. Here’s how to make sure the person you choose is the best:

Check your therapist is on the official UK register of complementary practitioners. The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council(CNHC) was established in 2009 with support from the Department of Health and ensures clear standards of training and performance. Plus registrants have to be properly insured. You could also contact the relevant professional organization for your chosen therapy and ask for list of therapists practicing in your area.

Ask for a recommendation from someone whose opinion you trust, then check if the practitioner is registered. You could also ask your GP for leads, they will be especially helpful if you have specific health needs, for example if you are pregnant, and can advise if therapy is available via the NHS. They may also be able to advise you on the safety and effectiveness of particular treatments.

A good therapist should be happy to answer your questions, tell you about their experiences and give you their credentials plus some references before you book an appointment.

Trust your instincts. How did you feel when speaking to them? No practitioner should make claims they cant justify. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

In your session, your Practitioner should ask you lots of questions about your wellbeing. Such as if you are on any medication. They should be clear about costs, any possible side effects and what benefits you might expect to see, in what time scale. If you are receiving conventional medical treatment, they should never advise you to discontinue it.

The boost in circulation you will get helps flush toxins from your system through sweat. Blemishes only appear if your post workout skincare regime is not up to scratch and sweat and grime is left on the skin. So act up fast and look as good as you feel after your workout with these easy skin care tips.

Splash your face with lukewarm water before using a foaming, soap free cleanser. Use your fingertips to work in the cleanser in small, circular movements around your face and hairline. Rinse well with warm water to remove perspiration and bacteria. Pat dry and if spots are a problem, try spritzing with a product such as Colloidal silver. Its an anti bacteria formula creates a protective barrier before applying your moisturizer.

If you are prone to spots and irritation on your back, try using a gentle body powder after patting your body dry to soak up excess oil on your skin.

During your workout, avoid wiping sweat from your brow with your hands as this can spread dirt and bacteria. Use a small, clean towel instead. Wipe down gym equipment before and after use with the paper towels that should be on hand.

Is your home a health hazard?? Think your house is pollution free?? here we uncover the hidden risks lurking in your air, cupboards and appliances.

Toxic Air

Using air fresheners regularly doubles your risk of developing breast cancer compared to never using them, shows a recent US study of over 1500 women. Solid slow release air fresheners involved the greatest increase in breast cancer risk. The silent spring institute researches say some lab tests have shown chemicals contained in some of these products may be carcinogenic, although no direct links have been proven. Many air fresheners also contain phthalates- hormone disrupting chemicals potentially dangerous to children.

Toxin Free Tips

Open windows daily and clean carpets and rugs regularly. A bowl of baking soda is good deodorizer or buy an air purifier.

Open Windows

Get more fresh air prevent the build-up of moisture by opening windows daily. Instead of an air freshener, spritz the air with a pump spray containing few drops of essential oil in water.

Detox Floors

Choose carpets and rugs made with organic natural fibers, such as wool, jute, coir or cotton and check they have not been treated with harsh chemicals, such as flame-retardants. Or go for wood flooring from a sustainable source.

Killer Kitchen

Studies show an old, dirty, damp dishcloth could harbor more potentially harmful micro-organism than the inside of your toilet. The kitchen towels you use to wipe dishes could also harbor dangerous levels of bacteria. A recent study by the Hygiene Council showed 20% of tea towels harbored a significant amount of germs and 35% of fridges were breeding grounds for high levels of bacteria, 15% were heavily contaminated with nasties such as Staphylococcus aureus, which can cause food poisoning.

Toxin Free Tips

Wash tea towels and cleaning clothes at temperatures higher than 60 c, lower wont be hot enough to kill harmful germs. Use separate clothes for cleaning floors and food preparation surfaces. When cleaning pay attention to door handles, light switches, kettles, inside the fridge and the seals around appliances.

Kill Mould Quick

Replace bathroom silicone that’s growing black spots and repair leaky pipes and cracked tiles quickly. Use a dehumidifier to reduce moisture in the air.

Clean Clothes

To kill harmful bacteria, wash dishcloths with hot water and detergent after each use or immerse in boiling water for 2 minutes then wiring out and air dry.

Indoor Pollution

Indoor air is commonly two to five times more polluted than outdoor air, even in cities. Headaches, irritated eyes, nose and throat, dizziness and fatigue are milder symptoms experienced in polluted homes. If you have gas, your home will contain higher levels of the potentially dangerous combustion byproducts carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide than those with electric appliances. Nitrogen dioxide exposure increases the risk of infectious respiratory disorders. Adding to the mix are volatile organic compounds neurotoxins shown to damage the central nervous system, slowly given off by vinyl flooring. Synthetic furnishing, solvents and new appliances such as TVs. Microscopic dust mites and mould spores contribute to poor air quality.

Toxin Free Tip

Open windows as much as possible and install ventilation. House plants, such as rubber plants and peace lilies, can help by removing toxic chemicals from the air. Vacuum floors regularly to reduce levels of breathable particles, dust mites and allergens in dust.

Pick Your Paint

New paints can give off VOCs and solvent fumes for around 5 years! Instead, use natural paint, water or clay based paints.

Repot Old Plants

Even the moist soil of pot plants can be breeding ground for moulds. If you notice a white mould on the surface, repot in a clean pot using fresh potting mix, and allow the soil to dry out between watering.

Get An Alarm

If you have gas appliances, make sure your carbon monoxide alarm is working. Even low levels of carbon monoxide exposure can cause flu like symptoms, such as headaches.

Radiation Risks

Cordless phones use microwave radiation to transmit audio signals between the base and the handset, which can pose health risks. This radiation, at higher levels than a mobile phone mast, is emitted constantly and it can pass through brick walls. Similar radiation levels have been linked to chronic fatigue and sleep problems.

Toxin Free Tips

Switch to a corded phone or if you cant do without cordless, buy a low radiation DECT phone that doesn’t emit radiation when the phone is not being used.

Move your Phone

If you cant do without a cordless phone, keep it as far as possible from places where you spend a lot of time, such as your bed and sofa.

Harmful Mould

Fungus growing on bathroom seals, walls, washing machines and in damp cupboards is not simply unsightly. In those with weakened immunity, breathing in mould spores can cause respiratory infections, such as bronchitis and sinusitis, it can also take hold in the lungs, causing scarring or even death. Common reactions are coughing, sneezing, asthma, congestion, headaches and allergic reactions.

Toxin Free Tip

To avoid using chemical mould remover, dry out the area, then, prevent the spread of mould spores, dampen then scrub with detergent. Put equal parts of vinegar and water in a pump spray bottle and spray the area, leave for 5 minutes then wipe clean.

Cleaning Chemicals

Many cleaning products contain a potent mix of chemicals, such as chlorine bleach. petrochemicals that irritate eyes, airways and skin, plus suspected carcinogen formaldehyde. Cleaning sprays have been linked to the onset of asthma in adults.

Toxin Free Tip

Clean with plant based cleaning products rather than synthetic. Try using vinegar, bicarbonate o0f soda, olive oil and lemon juice to make your own cleaners.
