Chana Saag (By Chef Mehboob): Recipe

Ingredients Of Chana Saag

  • 1 cup boiled chickpeas
  • 1 bunch spinach, washed and roughly chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp dried fenugreek
  • 1/2 onion, sliced
  • 1 green chili
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 bunch green coriander
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 small piece ginger, finely chopped

Method Of Chana Saag

  • Put spinach in a pan and let it simmer in its own juices. Once soft remove from the pan.
  • Saute onions in other pan till light brown and then add chickpeas, salt, garlic, red chili powder, turmeric powder and dry fenugreek. Cook well.
  • Now add chicken stock. Cover it and leave to simmer. When water starts to dry, add spinach, coriander, green chili and ginger. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Delicious chana saag is ready to be served.
