Try this chicken 9 lives with egg fried rice or with garlic fried rice. You will love the oyster sauce taste with chunky veggies.  This recipe is from Thai Cuisine. I think its called 9 lives because of 9 vegetables used in it. I skipped corn and broccoli in it.  You can also add baby corn, green chilies, and green beans in it.

Ingredients Of Chicken 9 Lives

For Marinating

  • 1/2 kg boneless chicken
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp cornflour
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp red chili flakes

Vegetables

  • 1 carrot, cut in stripes
  • 2 capsicum, cut in stripes
  • 1 cucumber, cut in stripes
  • 1 cup button mushrooms
  • 4 whole red chilies
  • 2/3 cup green onion, chopped

For Gravy

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 chicken cube
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp red chili flakes
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp cornflour dissolved in half cup water
  • 1 tbsp chili garlic sauce

Method Of Chicken 9 Lives

  • Marinate the chicken cubes with all ingredients of marinade which are mentioned above. Keep it for 2 hours.
  • Deep-fry chicken for 2 minutes in hot oil till its light brown in color.
  • Take a pan and heat 1 tbsp. oil, add ginger garlic paste, whole red chilies, and fry it little. Now add all vegetables and fry. Take veggies out and keep it aside.
  • Add  1 tbsp. oil and 1 tsp. of ginger garlic paste. Fry it little. Add chicken cube, 2 glass of water, salt, red chili flakes, black pepper, chili garlic sauce, oyster sauce, soy sauce and mix it well. Boil it and add dissolved cornflour in it. Cook this sauce till it thickens. At this stage, you can adjust your spices after tasting it.
  • Now add fried chicken and vegetables in this sauce.
  • Mix it well and serve hot with fried rice.
