HP sauce is a popular brown sauce by HP foods. It usually is used as an adjunct to hot or cold savoury food, or as an ingredient in soups and stews. HP Sauce is the best known brand of brown sauce in Britain. There are no artificial preservatives in this home-made recipe so it should be packaged in air-tight jars or bottles. Opened bottles should be refrigerated.
Ingredients Of HP sauce
- 1kg beef bones
- 1 cup tomato puree
- 1 carrot
- 3-4 garlic cloves
- 1/2 cup Wooster sauce
- 1 onion
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 1 apple
- 1/3 tsp. cinnamon powder
- 1 tsp. black pepper powder
- 1 tsp. white pepper powder
- 2 star anise
Method Of HP Sauce
- Wash the beef bones and place them in a pan. Add 2 jugs of water, star anise, chopped carrots, chopped apples, and chopped onions and crushed garlic.Cook for 5-6 hours. Drain the stock.
- Add the stock to the same pan along with tomato puree, Wooster sauce, cinnamon powder, black pepper powder, white pepper powder, vinegar and butter.
- Cook until the sauce thickens
