Keema Khichri And Khurdi Recipe

This recipe of keema khichri shared by Zeenat Hussain. It is a Bohra community famous recipe. Khurdi is a traditional soup that is mostly served with Keemay kee khichri or seasoned rice cooked with mince and lentils.

Ingredients Of Keema Khichri

  • 1/2 kg mince
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp. turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp. ginger garlic and green chilies paste
  • 3 tbsp. oil
  • 2 onions
  • 2 eggs hard boiled
  • 1 tsp. all spices powder
  • salt to taste

Method Of Keema Khichri

  • Wash mince and drain it well. Heat oil and fry chopped onions in it till they are light brown in color.
  • Add chili powder, ginger garlic and green chilies paste, salt, turmeric powder, and all spices powder. Add mince and water and cook it till mince becomes tender and water dries up. Add boiled eggs.

For Khichri

  • 1 cup moong daal
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 onion
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp. ghee
  • 1 tsp. all spices powder
  • Wash rice and daal or lentil and soak it in water for 15 minutes. Boil water in a pan.
  • .Give the lentils a boil in water before adding the rice. Season with salt during the boil. You may also season with cumin seeds. Most people let the rice over cook before draining out the water or alternately cook the rice in less water and let the water boil off.
  • In other pan heat oil and fry sliced onion in it. When it gets light brown add all spices powder and pour it over khichri.
  • When serving makes several layers of khichri and keema.

Khurdi (soup)

  • 1/2 kg chicken
  • 1-liter milk
  • 4 glasses water
  • salt to taste
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp. ghee or oil
  • 1 green chili
  • few mint leaves
  • 1 tsp. flour
  • 1 tbsp. ginger garlic and green chili paste


Method Of Khurdi

  • Boil chicken with ginger garlic and chilies paste, salt and 4 to 5 glasses of water. when chicken is tender then take it off from the flame.
  • In other pan fry onion and green chili. Add this to stock and then add milk, mint leaves, and flour. Keep stirring till it boils.
  • serve with keema khichri.
