Thai Satay Kebabs Recipe

In this recipe for Thai satay kebabs we will use sirloin steak which is cut from the lower portion of the ribs of the cow and this steak is very tender. Satay, or sate in Indonesian spelling, is a Southeast Asian dish of seasoned, skewered, and grilled meat, served with a sauce

Ingredients Of Thai Satay Kebabs

  • 1 lb sirloin steak. cut into stripes

For Marinade

  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1/2 tsp tamarind pulp, dissolved in 2 tbsp of hot water
  • 1 tbsp oil

For Sauce

  • 8 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp soya sauce
  • Wooden skewers as required

Method Of Thai Satay Kebabs

  • Soak wooden skewers for 25-30 minutes before preparing kebabs.
  • Blend all the ingredients of marinade in a blender till it forms a smooth paste.
  • Thread stripes onto wooden skewers and place in a large bowl, pour marinade over meat and leave it for 2-3 hours in the refrigerator and turn it occasionally.
  • Combine sauce ingredients in a pan and bring to a boil, stirring, remove from heat and cool, then pour into small bowls.
  • Grill or barbeque kebabs at high heat until kebabs are cooked.
  • Serve kebabs with bowls of sauce.

Tip: If you slice beef while partially frozen, it slices thinner and easier.
